Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Movie Review

Panda's Rating:

(2.5 out of 5 pandas)

About the movie:

"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" is the sequel to the first "Maze Runner" book, written by James Dashner. The story focuses on when Thomas (Dylan O' Brien), and his friends escapes the first Maze and continues their journey into the Scorch. The Scorch is filled with many obstacles where Thomas and his friends have to face. Throughout the journey, Thomas discovers more and more about the secrets of WCKD, an organization filled with danger.

Genre:

Action & Adventure

Director:

Wes Ball

Cast:

Dylan O' Brien, Thomas Sangster, Kaya Scodelario, Ki Hong Lee

Panda's Likes:

Well, in my opinion, compared to the first movie, at least the ending of the second movie had more hope than the first movie. The first movie ended with such sadness and pointless, at least Thomas has more hope towards the end of the movie. Also, Thomas Sangster and Ki Hong Lee makes fans want to watch this movie more. It is obvious that the supporting roles in this movie are more likeable than the main star, Dylan O' Brien.

Panda's Dislikes:

The movie seems a little draggy. Plot development seems quite slow. To me, at one point, it felt like this movie was going nowhere. The Scorch no longer feels like a maze, but a huge hurdle that feels quite pointless.

Panda's Overall Judgement:

Well, I think the first movie had more hyped because it was still new and exciting. Though, the sequel seems to be more hopeful, but yet, weak plot developments. Compared to similar shows like the Hunger Games or Divergent, this movie feels more weak, leaving you feeling a little pointless when watching this movie.
